Patrick is our baby boy. At the time of writing he is just 14 months old. I'm Tom, from England, and my wife is Lene - she's Indonesian. We all live very happily together on the island of Java.
This blog is about Pat and is in both English and Indonesian. Pat was recently diagnosed with Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC). There is very little information about this condition in English and none in Indonesian. AHC is very rare, only one in a million... but Indonesia is very big - 220 million - and there could be 200+ others here suffering from AHC, probably without knowing.
The aim of this blog is simply to put some information out on the web - if we can help even one person with AHC to get the appropriate help and treatement they need then this will be worthwhile.
About Us
Tom is a grade-1 primary school teacher at an IB world school and Lene works for the bank DBS. We live a privileged life in the east of Java, a place where many have no privileges. Our love is Patrick, our only child. Tom is from England and Lene is Indonesian... which means Pat is lucky enough to have two passports!
